WolframAlpha challenges google

It is speculated that worlframalpha could be a potential rival to google. wolfram Alpha is a revolutionary new search engine that computes answers rather than pointing to websites will be launched officially on May 17 .

Wolfram Alpha, named after Stephen Wolfram, the British-born computer scientist and inventor behind the project, takes a query and uses computational power to crunch through huge databases.

Dr Wolfram points out that his brainchild is a “computational knowledge engine”, not a traditional search engine.

All said and done , there had been many people who had tried to challenge google but havebeen unsuccessful With more than 70% search market share , it is not easy to bring the might of google which not only has tons of cash but a massive database.

It is only the time will tell whether the British can regain the "lost glory" in Search.

  3. I did a more detailed analysis on wolfram alpha and was a little disappointed. They look more like a questions and answer service than a search engine. I am not sure how are they planning to challenge google. for eg if you ask
To be or not to be?

    answer would be
    ..that is the question
